SUE JOHNSTON (Ella)

     Sue Johnston became nationally known in the UK as Sheila Grant in Channel 4's "Brookside." Her many other roles include Barbara Royle in "The Royle Family," (British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Performance); "In Suspicious Circumstances;" "Inspector Morse;" "Finest Hour Happy Together," "Crime Traveller;" Medics-four series "My Uncle Silas" (opp. Albert Finney); "Sex, Chips and Rock 'n' Roll;" "The Things You Do For Love - (The Pat Phoenix Story);" "Without Walls;" "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" and especially "Goodbye Cruel World" - (Awarded Radio Times 'Performance of the Year') and the highly successful current BBC Series "Waking the Dead."
     Her feature film credits include: BOOGALOO; NEW YEAR'S DAY; FACE; PREACHING TO THE PERVERTED and BRASSED OFF with Ewan McGregor, Pete Postlethwaite and Stephen Tompkinson.
Johnston has recently completed a pilot of "Jam and Jerusalem," written by Jennifer Saunders and has just completed Jimmy McGovern's "The Street," with Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall.
Her theatre work includes "The Play What I Wrote," the Royal National Theatre's "The Mysteries," the Manchester Royal Exchange's "Hindle Wakes" and "Richard II", the Bush Theatre's "Sugar, Sugar and Rage," the Bolton's "Ghosts," and performances of "Two" at the Bolton, the Edinburgh Festival and Young Vic. Her most recent West End appearance was in Ibsen's "The Master Builder at The Albery."
